MEDIATION EXPERTISE

Koorosh Afshari is an award-winning mediator who has handled hundreds of private disputes, resolving the great majority of them.

Afshari attributes his success to the efforts and common sense of the parties and counsel, as well as his own extensive experience, insight, patience and persistence.  A "never say never" approach, in the words of one client, and  "a natural" in the words of Jerry Spolter, the renowned mediator.

In addition to his busy private practice, Afshari has presided over hundreds of MSC's (1,200-plus hours since September 2005), for San Francisco, Santa Clara, Sacramento, and Marin County Superior Courts, resolving some of the most difficult cases on these Courts' dockets, covering nearly all areas of civil litigation, but mostly in the areas of PI, Employment, Wrongful Eviction, Real Estate and Medical Malpractice.

Afshari has also served as a mediator for the Federal Courts (since August 2005), mostly in the areas of Employment and Intellectual Property.  He has resolved all but one assigned federal matter.

Afshari is married to Sabrine M. Rodems, a star winemaker

LAW BACKGROUND

Before becoming a full-time mediator in 2006, Afshari practiced state and federal law for a decade and half, including, at the venerable San Francisco law firms of Cartwright, Slobodin, Bokelman, Borowsky, Wartnick, Moore & Harris (IP, PI, Products, Medical & Legal Malpractice, Employment & Business
Litigation), and Owen, Wickersham & Erickson (Trademark, Patent, Copyright, Internet & Trade Secrets Litigation) serving clients ranging from injured individuals to large corporations, resulting in several published opinions.

From 2003 to 2006, Afshari Law Firm served clients of all sizes, including The Men's Wearhouse, FUBU, and several  wineries, in trademark, unfair competition, and copyright matters.

ENGINEERING TRAINING

Afshari's
engineering training at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the  leading U.S. aerospace institution of higher learning, is an additional asset in understanding, analyzing and resolving complex/technical Personal Injury, Product Liability, IP, Construction Defect, and Real Estate cases.

TEACHING MEDIATION & LITIGATION SEMINARS
